ATLANTA -- Frantz Massenat scored 25 points and Daryl McCoy grabbed 14 rebounds, and Drexel pulled away in the second half to beat Georgia Southern 77-60 in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.
Damion Lee had 15 points and Tavon Allen 13 for the Dragons (5-8).
R.J. Hunter scored 23 points for the Panthers (5-10), who have lost five in a row. Cameron Solomon had 12 points and Devonta White 11 for Georgia State.
Drexel opened the second half with a 20-6 run to take a 59-39 lead with 10:37 left in the game, with Massenat scoring 11 of the points.
Georgia State was up 12-5 2:39 in on Hunter's two 3-pointers and a three-point play, but Drexel tied it a 12 on Massenat's 3-pointer. The Dragons took the lead for good at 22-21 on Massenat's three-point play with 5:48 left and were up 37-33 at the break (see full recap).
La Salle falls to Miami
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Shane Larkin and Durand Scott scored 18 points each to lead Miami to a 76-59 victory over La Salle Wednesday night.
The Hurricanes (9-3) broke the game open with a 16-2 run midway through the second half. Larkin hit consecutive 3-pointers during the surge. The second of those, with 8:32 remaining, gave the Hurricanes their first double-digit lead at 57-47.
Erik Swoope's basket with 7:02 remaining ended the surge and increased Miami's lead to 61-47.
Trey McKinney Jones and Kenny Kadji finished with 14 points each for the Hurricanes, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Miami lost the final two games of the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii against Arizona and Indiana State on Dec. 24 and 25.
Tyrone Garland scored 20 points to lead La Salle. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Explorers (9-3) (see full recap).
