Report: OC Nick Rolovich not coming to Temple

Two weeks after multiple outlets reported that Nick Rolovich accepted a job to become Temple's new offensive coordinator, NBC 4 in Reno reported Wednesday that Rolovich will remain at Nevada.

Rolovich, 33, was expected to reinvent a one-dimensional Temple offense with the run and shoot and pistol offenses he employed at Hawaii and Nevada, respectively.

New Temple head coach Matt Rhule, who replaced the outgoing Steve Addazio in December, said at his introductory press conference on Dec. 19 that he wanted his offense to be as multiple as possible, promising a greater commitment to the passing game than was seen under his predecessor. Temple's last OC, Ryan Day, followed Addazio to Boston College.

Under Rolovich in 2012, Nevada finished fourth in the country in total yards from scrimmage (6,693) and 16th in the nation in points per game (37.8). The program is still looking to fill its head coaching vacancy left by the now-retired Chris Ault.

The Temple offense, meanwhile, finished with the third-fewest yards (3,542) of any of the 124 FBS teams, and the Owls' 120.8 passing yards were 120th, ahead of only Navy, Air Force, New Mexico and Army -- four teams who all run the triple-option.

It appears Rhule will now have to restart his search for a new offensive coordinator.
