Despite no longer being in the same conference, Villanova and Syracuse will continue their rivalry -- at least for the next two seasons.

Villanova will play a home-and-home series with Syracuse beginning this coming season. The first game of the series will be at the Carrier Dome on Dec. 13, while the Wildcats will host the Orange at the Wells Fargo Center the following season.

"Our annual games against Syracuse were an integral part of our basketball schedule over the past 30 plus years," Villanova director of athletics Vince Nicastro said in a statement, "and included some of the greatest college basketball experiences in the nation.

"We are thrilled to be able to continue that for the next two years."

Last season, the Wildcats split two games with the Orange -- both teams winning on their home courts. Villanova's victory was a memorable one, beating then-No. 3 Syracuse 75-71 in overtime on Jan. 26.

The two schools have played each other 70 times, with Syracuse holding a 38-32 series advantage.

“Syracuse-Villanova games have been a great tradition and a big part of Big East basketball,” Villanova head coach Jay Wright said. "When the Wildcats and Orange have met at the Carrier Dome and Wells Fargo Center, the environments have been two of the best in college basketball.”
