Just one day after being named the Big East player of the week, Villanova guard Darrun Hilliard was honored by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

The USBWA named Hilliard, a 6-6 sophomore, the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 27.

The Bethlehem, Pa. native led the Wildcats to back-to-back Big East wins over top-five nationally ranked opponents.  On Tuesday, in a 73-64 victory against then-No. 5 Louisville, Hilliard scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.  He followed up that performance with 25 points and career highs in rebounds and assists, with seven and six respectively, in a 75-71 overtime win against then-No.3 Syracuse.

Hilliard averaged 18.0 points and 5.5 rebounds for the week.

Villanova travels to Notre Dame on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. meeting with the Fighting Irish.  The Wildcats are looking to extend their winning streak to three.
