CHICAGO — The 2016 NBA pre-draft combine got underway on Wednesday and teams quickly began meeting with prospective candidates. On the first day of interviews, one of the players the Sixers held a sit-down with was seven-foot power forward Skal Labissiere from the University of Kentucky.

“It went really well,” Labissiere said at a private workout (watch). “They have a really good coaching staff and they were very impressive.”

Labissiere declared for the draft after averaging 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks as a freshman, a performance he looks to improve upon during the draft process.

During the workout on Wednesday he stretched his game beyond the basket and knocked down buckets from well past the three-point line. Labissiere said his routine includes starting at the hoop and extending to the perimeter, where he plans to expand his outside shot. He also wants to develop more strength to battle at the rim.

“Obviously, a lot of people know I can shoot the basketball,” he said. “But I think as time goes on, I will be really good down low as I get stronger and bigger. I have the skill set. I have to just learn how to hold my position down there.”

Labissiere is one of many prospects the Sixers will meet this week in Chicago as they hold up to four potential first-round picks. Of those reported so far, their list includes projected first or second pick Brandon Ingram, as well as Buddy Hield, Malachi Richardson and DeAndre' Bembry, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Media availability with the prospects will begin Thursday afternoon.
