One of Phillies' top prospects, Adam Haseley, closing in on majors

Phillies outfield prospect Adam Haseley is making another jump, joining Triple A Lehigh Valley after a promotion from Double A Reading.

Haseley, the Phillies’ first-round pick in the 2017 draft, hit .337/.410/.584 in his final 100 plate appearances at Double A. ‘Twas time for the next test.

The question on the minds of Phillies fans is whether the 23-year-old Haseley can contribute to the big-league club in 2019. As long as he hits at Triple A and shows signs he’s ready, he could get that opportunity. At the least, you’d figure the Phils would want to get him a little taste of The Show in September. This is all contingent on his continuing to play well.

Haseley began his stint with the IronPigs by going 3 for 3 with two doubles in his Triple A debut Wednesday night.

Odubel Herrera’s future with the Phillies is unclear and that will factor prominently into the picture with Haseley moving forward. Another job is there to be seized.

The Phillies knew when they drafted Haseley eighth overall out of the University of Virginia nearly two years ago that he could be a fast-riser ready to contribute once their window of contention opened. That window has opened.
