Gagne Undergoes Two Successful Surgeries
Tuesday, November 3, 2009By Tim PanaccioCSNPhilly.comSimon Gagne’s surgery Tuesday at Hahnemann University Hospital was a success, the Flyers said.
According to general manager Paul Holmgren, Gagne underwent both scheduled procedures. He had a repair made to one small hernia on his right side, and he also had a repair made to his abdominal wall, which is expected to offer reinforcement to his lower groin.
An ultrasound taken in Philadelphia showed two small hernias, but as it turned out, there was only one tear. The ultrasound taken in Montreal showed neither hernia.
Tuesday’s surgery was performed by William Meyers. Holmgren said Gagne will begin rehab in a few days. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
