MIAMI -- The Heat got revenge for the Sixers snapping their 13-game winning streak last month with a 125-98 win Wednesday night at the AmericanAirlines Arena. 

The Sixers trailed by as many as 27 points in a game the Heat had control of from the start. The Heat took a 10-point lead in the first quarter and went up 20 by halftime. 

The Sixers outscored the Heat 37-27 in the third to close the deficit to 14 points. The Heat responded with a 10-0 run to open the fourth and pull away. 

The Sixers have lost five straight in Miami and dropped to 22-38 on the season. The Heat improved to 28-33 in their eighth-seed push. 

Embiid looks on from sidelines
Joel Embiid is in Miami with the Sixers. He attended shootaround and sat courtside in sandals to watch pregame warmups. Embiid was shut down for the season on Wednesday afternoon (see story).

Inside the box score
• Tyler Johnson, who is averaging 13.8 points this season, led all players with 24 off the bench.

• Hassan Whiteside recorded his 39th double-double of the season: 15 points and 11 rebounds.

• Robert Covington led the Sixers with 19 points (3 for 8 from three) along with five rebounds.

• Jahlil Okafor grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. He struggled offensively, scoring six points off 3 for 11 shooting. 

• Dario Saric (10 points) reached double figures for the 10th straight game in spite of shooting 4 for 12 from the field. He also pulled down six boards.

• Richaun Holmes posted 15 points and six rebounds off the bench. 

• Philadelphia native Wayne Ellington scored 18 points (6 for 9 from three) for the Heat. 

Injury updates
Gerald Henderson left the game because of left hip soreness and did not return for the second half. Tiago Splitter and Jerryd Bayless (inactive) watched the game from the Sixers' bench.
