The Sixers on Wednesday waived shooting guard Hollis Thompson.

Derek Bodner of PhillyMag first reported the move.

This was Thompson's fourth season with the Sixers and he averaged 75 games the last three. This year, he was averaging 5.5 points in 18.1 minutes, appearing in all but two of the Sixers' games.

The move comes a week before the remaining half-season of Thompson's contract was set to become fully guaranteed. (T.J. McConnell and Robert Covington have the same Jan. 10 guarantee date.)

Thompson, 25, shouldn't have much trouble finding a job elsewhere. He's a 39 percent career shooter from three and could be used by a team seeking a perimeter threat off the bench.
