CSN's NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Patriots, Cowboys lead pack; Eagles falling fast

Share

It's November, it's Week 10, and by now we should have a good idea of which teams have a legitimate shot at making a Super Bowl run.

On Tuesday we took a look at power rankings from around the web.

Now, we introduce CSN's first NFL power rankings, compiled by our Derrick Gunn and John Boruk. Each provided their individual rankings, and we used the average to determine the overall rank.

The number in parentheses is their personal ranking.

1. New England (7-1)
Tom Brady is on a mission. - Gunn (1)

Averaging 34 points since Brady returned. Not sure there’s a team in the AFC that can win in Foxboro right now. - Boruk (1)

2. Dallas (7-1)
One of the biggest surprise teams this year. Its rookie QB and rookie RB have been the talk of the league. - Gunn (2)

Everybody talks about Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott, but a healthy Sean Lee at MLB has made a huge difference for its defense. - Boruk (2)

3. Oakland (7-2)
The Raiders are the most penalized team in the league. QB Derek Carr has come into his own. Just win baby! - Gunn (3)

Carr regressed over the second half of last season. He needs to prove 2016 is different. - Boruk (4)

3. Seattle (5-2-1)
Russell Wilson and the offense struggle at times, but its top-ranked scoring defense bails the Seahawks out. - Gunn (4)

The Seahawks are battle-tested and seem to play their best football in the second half of the season. - Boruk (3)

5. Atlanta (6-3)
The most potent offense in the game today. Matty Ice is on fire. - Gunn (5)

Winning in Denver was a big step, but the Falcons give up 290 passing yards per game. Only the Saints are worse. - Boruk (6)

5. Kansas City (6-2)
Andy Reid’s crew is rolling, winners of four straight. - Gunn (6)

No one talks about K.C. winning 16 of its last 18 regular-season games because there’s nothing flashy about this team. It just wins. - Boruk (5)

7. Denver (6-3)
The defending champs still have a stout defense, but young QB Trevor Siemian still has some growing to do in big games. - Gunn (7)

Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray have 100-yard rushing games the past two weeks against Denver. This is a problem for the Broncos' defense. - Boruk (7)

8. Pittsburgh (4-4)
Big Ben is back and the Steelers still have plenty of time to make their run. - Gunn (8)

Ben Roethlisberger is a considerably different QB on the road than he is at home. Pittsburgh has been plagued with injuries. - Boruk (9)

9. Detroit (5-4)
Five wins by a total of 17 points. Defense is a liability. - Gunn (14)

The Lions have trailed in all nine games, and in all five of their wins, they trailed with :90 to play. Matt Stafford is a MVP candidate. - Boruk (8)

10. N.Y. Giants (5-3)
All of their games except one have been decided by seven points or less. - Gunn (13)

An erratic quarterback and an inconsistent defense. This team could go one of two ways in the second half of the schedule. - Boruk (10)

10. Minnesota (5-3)
After starting 5-0, the Vikings have lost three straight and are fading fast. - Gunn (10)

The Vikings have lost three straight and are leaking oil. Sam Bradford is running for his life, and without a stellar defense, they’ve got no chance. - Boruk (13)

12. Washington (4-3-1)
Probably not good enough to overtake Dallas in NFC East but should stay wild card contender. - Gunn (12)

Kirk Cousins is playing better, and with home games against the Vikings and Packers, the Redskins could continue to rise. - Boruk (14)

13. Cincinnati (3-4-1)
The Bengals have enough talent on both sides of the ball, they just have to put it together. - Gunn (9)

Cincinnati has beaten the Browns, Dolphins and Jets. Why should the Bengals get me excited about anything? - Boruk (17)

13. Green Bay (4-4)
The million dollar question: What is wrong with its offense? - Gunn (11)

The Packers have lost their edge on the frozen tundra. Two losses already at Lambeau against the Colts and Cowboys. - Boruk (15)

15. Arizona (3-4-1)
Will the real Cards please stand up? - Gunn (17)

With David Johnson and an active, physical defense, Arizona just needs Carson Palmer to play a little better. - Boruk (11)

16. San Diego (4-5)
The Chargers are the most dangerous sub.-500 team in the league. - Gunn (15)

Could easily be 7-2 if it wasn’t for blown leads in the fourth quarter. The Chargers are the team you don’t want to face right now. - Boruk (16)

16. New Orleans (4-4)
After starting 0-3, the Saints have rebounded nicely, but their defense is a sieve. - Gunn (19)

Drew Brees and the offense have almost become matchup proof and I like the 1-2 RB punch of Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower. - Boruk (12)

18. Baltimore (4-4)
The Ravens' defense is starting to jell. - Gunn (16)

Snapped a four-game losing streak. The Ravens are an 8-8 team, so they’re right on track of where they should be. - Boruk (20)

19. Houston (5-3)
The Texans are winning but are not as good as their record indicates. - Gunn (20)

Didn’t think DeAndre Hopkins would be a non-factor this season, but that’s been the case with Brock Osweiler. - Boruk (18)

20. Eagles (4-4)
Their 3-0 start was a mirage. Average team at best. - Gunn (18)

Predictable play-calling. 0-3 in the NFC East. Very tough next four games. - Boruk (21)

21. Indianapolis (4-5)
Four of the final seven games at home — including showdown with Texans — could benefit the Colts. - Gunn (21)

If Andrew Luck can play all 16 games, I think the Colts win 10 games and the AFC South. - Boruk (19)

22. Buffalo (4-5)
Bills can’t beat quality opponents, which might cost Rex Ryan his job. - Gunn (22)

The Buffalo roller coaster looks like this: two losses, followed by four wins, and now three straight losses. - Boruk (24)

22. Tennessee (4-5)
Another year away from taking a significant step in the right direction. - Gunn (23)

DeMarco Murray has already surpassed his rushing and TD totals from 2015 with the Eagles. - Boruk (23)

24. Carolina (3-5)
Team is a major disappointment this season. - Gunn (24)

If the Panthers can figure out their secondary, they’ll be a bear over the next two months. - Boruk (22)

25. Miami (4-4)
The Dolphins starting to show some life. - Gunn (25)

Suddenly, Jay Ajayi is the key to Miami’s success. - Boruk (25)

26. Los Angeles (3-5)
Plenty of defense, very little offense. - Gunn (26)

I truly believe if the Rams had taken Carson Wentz at No. 1, they may be 6-2 right now. - Boruk (26)

27. Tampa Bay (3-5)
The Bucs' schedule has been brutal and their defense can’t stop anybody. - Gunn (28)

Winless at home (0-4) and has surrendered 900 passing yards to the Raiders and Falcons. - Boruk (27)

27. N.Y. Jets (3-6)
Todd Bowles has a mess on his hands with this squad. - Gunn (27)

Where have you gone Brandon Marshall? Losing Eric Decker put this offense in a tailspin. - Boruk (28)

29. Chicago (2-6)
Not even the return of Jay Cutler can save this squad. - Gunn (30)

The Bears' defense is playing considerably better and the team can’t be much worse offensively. - Boruk (29)

30. Jacksonville (2-6)
A lot of talent on this team but you sure can’t tell it by its record. - Gunn (29)

By 1:07 p.m.,  the Jaguars are usually down 10-0 and that’s when Blake Bortles proceeds to start stinking up the place. - Boruk (31)

31. San Francisco (1-7)
No talent equals no wins. Hey, Chip, how’s the Bay Area treating you? - Gunn (31)

Chip Kelly’s Oregon teams would have had success running the ball on Chip Kelly’s 49ers. - Boruk (30)

32. Cleveland (0-9)
As expected, once again the Siberia of the NFL. - Gunn (32)

The Browns don’t have a first-round pick from 2011-14 on their roster. It eventually catches up with you. - Boruk (32)
