Eagles Injury Update: Jason Peters practices Wednesday

After leaving Sunday's game against Washington early with a groin injury, Jason Peters practiced Wednesday, as the Eagles began preparations for Kansas City.

"Jason Peters is fine," head coach Doug Pederson said. "He'll practice today."

Peters left Sunday's game in the second quarter. He tried to come back in the second half, but he lasted just one play before he was again replaced by backup Halapoulivaati Vaitai.

After the game, Peters said he didn't expect to miss any more time and it looks like he was right. While he's 35 years old, Peters is still a huge part of the Eagles' offense and is their best bet at left tackle. If he does miss any extended time this season, it's likely Lane Johnson would flip to left tackle and Vaitai would replace him at right. But during games, the Eagles seem content to let Big V come in to replace him on Carson Wentz's blindside.

As far as cornerback Ronald Darby goes, Pederson said the team is still waiting for more information and test results to come back before giving a prognosis. Either way, the Eagles will be without Darby for a while. Pederson said Darby is "week to week."

Without Darby, the Eagles have some options. During Sunday's game, they simply plugged in Jaylen Watkins at corner. This week, they could do that, use Patrick Robinson outside and inside or keep Rasul Douglas active and let him play.

As Pederson began his press conference Wednesday, he took the time to speak about former long snapper Jon Dorenbos, who had surgery for his aortic aneurysm Tuesday. Pederson delivered some good news.

"Everything went well with surgery and he's resting comfortably," Pederson said. "We just wish him and his family well and our prayers are with him. And hope for a speedy recovery."

The Eagles traded Dorenbos, 37, to New Orleans on Aug. 28. While in New Orleans, doctors discovered an aortic aneurysm that needed surgery. The seventh-round pick the Eagles got back in the trade has been returned to the Saints.

Dorenbos played 162 games as an Eagle, the sixth-most in franchise history.
