HOUSTON -- A person familiar with the negotiations says the Houston Texans and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins have agreed to a five-year, $81 million contract extension.
The person spoke to The AP on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not yet been announced by the teams.
The deal, which includes $49 million guaranteed, comes as the star receiver was entering the last year of his contract.
Hopkins was the 27th overall pick in the 2013 draft. He has piled up 4,487 yards receiving in his first four seasons, including a career-high 1,521 in 2015 despite playing with a revolving door of quarterbacks.
The 25-year-old has 23 receiving touchdowns in his career and will be the centerpiece of an offense that is looking to bounce back after a tough 2016 season with Brock Osweiler at quarterback.
Cowboys: Elliott appeal hearing over after 2-plus days
NEW YORK -- Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott's hearing on the appeal of his six-game suspension over a domestic violence case ended Thursday after 2 1/2 days.
According to the labor agreement, Arbitrator Harold Henderson must rule on the NFL's punishment "as soon as practicable." The Cowboys must cut their roster to 53 players by Saturday, and putting Elliott on the restricted list would give them an extra spot.

The NFL's 2016 rushing leader was suspended after the league concluded that he used physical force last summer in Ohio against his girlfriend at the time. Prosecutors didn't pursue the case, citing conflicting evidence. Elliott has denied the allegations.
The personal conduct policy was amended three years ago to stiffen penalties in domestic cases. The change came after NFL was sharply criticized for its handling of a case involving former Baltimore running back Ray Rice.
49ers: OL Tomlinson acquired from Lions for pick
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers have acquired offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson from the Detroit Lions in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
The 49ers announced the deal on Thursday and say Tomlinson still must pass a physical to make it official.
Tomlinson was drafted 28th overall in 2015 by Detroit as the final first-round pick by former Lions general manager Martin Mayhew. Mayhew is now a personnel executive for the 49ers.
Tomlinson played 32 games the past two seasons and made 24 starts. The Niners need help on the interior line after starting right guard Joshua Garnett injured his knee in training camp and might not be ready for the start of the season.
Panthers: Olsen can earn $2 million in incentives
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen has restructured his contract, which could allow him to make an additional $2 million this season if he reaches certain incentives.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said the incentives Olsen can reach include receptions, yards receiving, average yards per catch and postseason honors.
The 32-year-old Olsen was seeking a new contract from the Panthers after becoming the first tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 yards receiving in three straight seasons. However, the team was reluctant to tear up his contract because he has two years remaining on the three-year, $22.5 million extension he signed in 2015.
The new incentives were in essence a compromise to reward Olsen for his productive play.
