The Flyers' rookie camp opens Sept. 19 on ice at Skate Zone in Voorhees, New Jersey.

This year’s camp is scaled back a bit with just 21 players. The organization’s full camp will open Sept. 23.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said there were several invitees he was considering for the main camp, but no final decision on them have been made.

There are, however, two invitees to the rookie camp: defensemen Garrett McFadden and Brennan Menell.

The most anticipated rookie on display will be defenseman Ivan Provorov, the club’s top draft pick from 2015. Although he is just 19 years old, Provorov is expected to make the roster this fall.

His performance at the club’s developmental camp in July demonstrated just how advanced he is as a teenager.

“Every young player coming to camp is going to get a look,” Hextall said. “You build your base the year before. There’s a few guys who have built a good base. Ivan being one of those guys. But nothing is going to be handed out.”

Rookie camp practices begin on Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. The next two practices are on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. and Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m., followed by the club’s travel group to Long Island where the Flyers and Islanders rookies will meet that night at Northwell Health Ice Center for a 6 p.m. puck drop.

All practices are free and open to the public, including the Flyers' full training camp.

Because of on-going construction to expand Skate Zone, parking has been reduced and fans might want to consider carpooling.
