BOX SCORE

The winless drought in Philadelphia continues for the Detroit Red Wings.

The Flyers rallied from an early deficit to give the Wings their 12th consecutive regular-season loss in Philadelphia on Wednesday night with a 4-3 overtime victory at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jakub Voracek won it in OT on a crossing pass from Claude Giroux on the Flyers' only rush in that sequence.

Detroit scored twice within 16 seconds in the opening period, including a bad goal off Michal Neuvirth’s chest and over his shoulder, for a 2-0 lead.

The Flyers came back to tie the game with two guys scoring their first goals of the season — Chris VandeVelde in the second period and Russian rookie Roman Lyubimov early in the third.

Henrik Zetterberg broke the tie at 8:18 after a Flyers turnover for his first goal of the season, but Mark Streit tied it with 1:04 left in regulation.

Notable goals
VandeVelde scored his first goal late in the second period to cut the Flyers' deficit to 2-1. He went forehand/backhand and scored himself with the puck in the net, too.

Breakaways
Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek denied Nick Cousins in the first period. There was a great lead pass from Brandon Manning.

Goalie report
Neuvirth made his first consecutive starts of the season and had to be sharp early off a Flyers turnover and quick shot from Tomas Tatar in the slot. Yet, Neuvirth was anything but sharp on Andreas Athanasiou’s shot that made it 2-0.

First periods
The Flyers were 0-4-1 when trailing after the first period.

Shots
The Flyers came alive in the second period, outshooting Detroit 17-6 and scoring, too.

Power play
The Flyers had three quality chances on a carryover PP to start the third and didn’t score.

Penalty kill
Fortunately for the Flyers, they only had to defend once.

Bad hit
Brayden Schenn left his feet for a high hit to the head of defenseman Brendan Smith late in the second period without a penalty. However, the hit is going to get reviewed by the NHL for possible supplementary discipline. Smith returned to the game to start the third period.

Fights
Manning and Steve Ott had a brief fight in the second period. Draw.

Scratches
Injured: Forwards Scott Laughton (knee), Michael Raffl (abdominal pull) and Boyd Gordon (back spasms) and defenseman Michael Del Zotto (knee). Healthy: defenseman Nick Schultz.

Up next
The Flyers have their fourth back-to-back situation as they will face the Islanders on Thursday night in Brooklyn, then fly directly to Montreal after the game to face Les Habs on Saturday night.
