Just as he re-entered the lineup after sitting out as a healthy scratch for two games, Travis Konecny appears headed back out of the lineup because of a several injuries.
Konecny left the Flyers’ 2-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Monday (see game story) in the second period and did not return after he was hit hard into the boards and came up favoring his left shoulder. Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said the team will provide an update Tuesday.
The 19-year-old rookie suffered a left knee and ankle sprain, a source told CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio. Konecny’s left shoulder is OK, the source said, but he’s also in a walking boot.
After the game, Dave Hakstol said he is not concerned about losing Konecny long term — “because I don’t have any information on that,” the head coach said. He said the Flyers will know more Tuesday.
Konecny’s last shift came at 11:17 of the second period. He finished the game with one shot on net in 8:13. In 51 games through his rookie season, he has seven goals and 15 assists.
Asked about if it’s tough to see Konecny come back into the lineup only to have to leave again, Nick Cousins said he doesn’t know what happened to Konecny. Cousins said he hopes to see Konecny with the team on Tuesday.

“I didn’t really see the play, but he’s been a good player for us all year,” said Cousins, who played 15:42 on the second line. “I thought he had a good jump there to start off the first period and leading into the second. I’m not sure what it is and hopefully it’s not serious.”
Konecny was not available for comment after the game.
