BOX SCORE

Julio Teheran out-dueled Cliff Lee on Wednesday night, and the Braves beat the Phillies, 1-0, at Citizens Bank Park.

Teheran, who allowed only one hit through 7⅔ innings, finished with a three-hit shutout. It was his first career complete game and shutout.

Teheran allowed only an infield hit to Ryan Howard in the fourth, a single to left by Carlos Ruiz in the eighth and a two-out base hit by Jimmy Rollins in the bottom of the ninth.

With Rollins on second as the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, Teheran retired Chase Utley on a sharp grounder to second to end the game on his 115th pitch.

Starting pitching report
Lee allowed 11 hits but struck out 13 and walked one. The only run he allowed came on a fourth-inning leadoff home run by Evan Gattis on an 0-2 pitch.

Lee has now reached double figures in strikeouts 29 times in his career, tied with Don Sutton for 41st-most in baseball history.

Despite throwing 114 pitches through eight innings, manager Ryne Sandberg let Lee come out to pitch the top of the ninth. After allowing two singles, Lee retired the side without allowing any runs.

He finished with a career-high 128 pitches, the most by a Phillie since Roy Halladay threw 130 against the Padres in 2011.

Teheran retired the first 12 batters he faced before Howard opened the bottom of the fifth with an infield hit. He needed only 79 pitches to get through seven innings, then 36 to get through the last two.

Teheran is only the sixth pitcher to throw a complete-game shutout against the Phillies in the last eight years. The other five were R.A. Dickey (Mets) in 2010, Ian Kennedy (Diamondbacks) and Jason Vargas (Mariners) in 2011 and Stephen Strasburg (Nationals) and Jonathan Niese (Mets) in 2013.

At the plate
Gattis had a career-high four hits, going 4 for 4 with the home run and three singles. Gattis now has three homers in the series.

In the field
Freddy Galvis, getting a start at third, made a nice diving stop of a grounder to his left by Justin Upton, and Howard scooped up the short-hop to finish off the play in the top of the eighth.

Sick bay
Before the game, Phillies assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said Cole Hamels will make a rehab start in Clearwater on Thursday and, if it goes well, he'll likely pitch in the Dodgers series next week in Los Angeles (see story).

Attendance update
Official attendance was 23,382. The Phils have been under 28,000 five times this year. They were never under 28,000 in the previous five years.
