OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Thunder entered Friday nights game against the Sixers with the highest winning percentage in the NBA this season thanks to a record of 24-7.
They were coming off a 17-point home loss to the Nets and had not lost back-to-back games at home since December of 2009.
The Sixers were not fazed by either statistic early as they kept pace in the typically rowdy Chesapeake Energy Arena. However, the Sixers allowed a four-point deficit to balloon to 13 in the third quarter and as much as 21 in the fourth of a 109-85 loss.
The Sixers have now lost 10 of their last 12 away from the Wells Fargo Center and are 15-19 overall for the season. Their mark on this eight-game road trip dipped to just 2-5.
Turning pointThe Thunder shot 41 percent in the first half. In the third quarter, they came out and made 12 of 17 field goal attempts (71 percent), including 4 for 4 from the three-point arc. Additionally, the Thunder forced the Sixers into five turnovers, which led to seven points.
Follow the leaderRussell Westbrook led the Thunder with 27 points and shot a perfect 4 for 4 from from behind the arc. Kevin Durant scored 26 points, while Serge Ibaka had 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Kevin Martin, who scored just six points in the first meeting between the two teams, came off the bench to score 16.
Jrue Holiday had 15 points and nine assists. Thaddeus Young contributed 10 points and four rebounds. Spencer Hawes led all rebounders with 13.
Stat-egicThe Thunder average 22 made free throws a game, attempting 27. Their 85 percent free throw percentage is tops in the NBA and they are on pace to break Bostons record of 83 percent set in the 1989-90 season.
Against the Sixers, OKC was 21 of 27 at the foul line, while the Sixers were just 6 for 8.
Take a bowNick Young scored in double figures for the fifth time in the last six games with 21 points. In that stretch, he has made 11 threes and shot 50 percent.
Young was 0 for 5 inside the arc, but connected on 5 of 7 shots from three-point range and added six free throws to score his team-high 21.
Whats next?The Sixers finish off their season-long road trip on Saturday at San Antonio. The Spurs have the fewest home losses in the NBA with just two. The Spurs are coming off a 17-point loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
San Antonio is led in scoring by Tony Parker, who averages 19.1 points. Tim Duncan, now in his 16th NBA season, is averaging 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds in 30 minutes per game.
The Spurs lead the Southwest Division with a record of 26-9.
