Halladay named Wanamaker Award winner

Roy Halladay has won the 2011 John Wanamaker Award for his performance last season.

Halladay won the NL Cy Young award last season after going 21-10 with a 2.44 ERA. He piled up 219 strikeouts and recorded nine complete games.

The Wanamaker Athletic Award was has been has been presented since 1961 to the athlete, team or organization that has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia and to the team or sport in which they participate.

This is the fourth time in the last five years that the Phillies have been honored with the award. Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins won it in 2007 and 2008 after being named NL MVP, and the team was honored after winning the 2008 World Series.

The Eagles will receive the Sports Congress Robert P. Levy Community Service Award for their Go Green environmental initiative and Eagles Youth Partnership campaign, which helps more than 50,000 children annually with various health and educational programs.

The Philadelphia Sports Congress, AmerimarBehringer Harvard, CBS-3, and the Philadelphia Daily News present the Wanamaker Athletic Award ceremony and luncheon.
