The Phillies have invited six more players to spring training, including several top prospects and veteran outfielder Joe Mather.

Mather, 30, has 229 games of big-league experience with the Cardinals, Braves and Cubs. He’s a .219 career hitter with 14 homers in 537 plate appearances.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is a similar player to John Mayberry Jr., both in build and ability. Mather has played 355 innings in center, 257 in rightfield and 220 in left.

Joining Mather in Clearwater will be catching prospect Tommy Joseph, third baseman Cody Asche, lefthander Adam Morgan and righties Kyle Simon and Justin Friend.

The Phils have invited 19 players in all to spring training as non-roster invitees: the six above, along with pitchers Aaron Cook, Rodrigo Lopez, Juan Cruz, Zach Miner and Cesar Jimenez, catchers Steven Lerud and Humberto Quintero, infielders Michael Martinez, Pete Orr, Andres Blanco and Josh Fields and outfielder Jermaine Mitchell.

Phillies spring training begins Saturday, Feb. 23 at Bright House Field against the Houston Astros.
