MINNEAPOLIS -- The Phillies will travel west to Denver after Thursday night’s game against the Twins.
Carlos Ruiz will travel in the opposite direction.
Ruiz, on the disabled list for the last month with a strained right hamstring, has been cleared for a minor-league rehabilitation assignment. The Phillies’ catcher said he will play at Lehigh Valley on Saturday and Sunday, work out in Philadelphia on Monday, play at Reading on Tuesday and Wednesday, take Thursday off and be activated for next Friday night’s game against the Mets at Citizens Bank Park.
That’s the plan, at least. Things could change if Ruiz experiences a setback.
There’s no word on when Chase Utley (strained right oblique) will go out on minor-league rehab, but he believes he could also be ready to be activated sometime next week.
