Several surprises atop latest Phillies prospect list

Share

Another outlet, Baseball Prospectus, released its list of the Phillies Top 10 prospects on Friday, and it is a different looking compilation than the two before it. While Jesse Biddle is viewed as the Phils No. 1 prospect by Baseball Prospectus, Baseball America and MLB.com, no other prospect appears in the same spot on all three lists.

Surprisingly, BP ranks third baseman Maikel Franco as the Phils second-best prospect. The 20-year-old Dominican played 132 games last season at Class A Lakewood, hitting .280 with a .775 OPS, 32 doubles, 14 home runs and 84 RBIs. He made 16 errors at the hot corner. Franco was ranked eighth in the Phils system by Baseball America and 17th by MLB.com.

Baseball Prospectus also fancies lefthanded starting pitcher Adam Morgan, ranking him No. 3. Morgan turned heads in 2012, pitching to a 3.35 ERA with 169 strikeouts in 158.2 innings at High A Clearwater and Double A Reading. He was previously fifth on BAs list and unranked by MLB.com.

Only 11 players made at least two prospect lists. Here is a composite list of the prospects to make at least two outlets' rankings:
