The Phillies' bats woke up in a 8-2 victory over the Cardinals in a rain-shortened game on Friday (see game recap).

Here is a look at the notable games tonight in the MLB:

Braves at Pirates, 7:05 p.m.
The Atlanta Braves look to rebound as they continue their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On Friday, the Braves' bats were silenced in a 6-0 Pirates' victory. Pittsburgh's pitching staff allowed two hits and faced the minimum 27 hitters.

In each of their three losses, the Braves have been held scoreless.

Being held scoreless for a second straight night seems unlikely as James McDonald takes the hill for the Pirates. On Monday, he allowed eight runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings against the Cardinals.

Paul Maholm, who never lived up to his potential in seven seasons with the Pirates, will oppose McDonald.

In his three starts this season, Maholm has yet to give up an earned run. Maholm is the sixth pitcher since 1920 to open the season with three straight scoreless starts of at least five innings of work.

Diamondbacks at Rockies, 8:10 p.m.
The Colorado Rockies host the Arizona Diamondbacks as they go for their eighth straight win.

In their winning streak, the Rockies have hit an impressive .359 with runners in scoring position.

The Rockies are also 7-0 at home, while outscoring opponents 51-22.

On Friday, the Rockies opened up the series with a 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Jorge De la Rosa, who will take the hill for the Rockies, seems to be back to his normal self after missing over a year with an arm injury. In his last outing, he allowed two hits in six scoreless innings, while striking out seven Padres. It was his first victory since May 13, 2011.

Opposing De la Rosa will be Trevor Cahill. In his last outing, he went 7 1/3 innings while allowing six hits in a 1-0 walkoff win over the Dodgers.

Padres at Giants, 9:05 p.m.
The San Francisco Giants look to build off their walkoff win on Friday night as their series continues against the San Diego Padres.

After suffering a three-game sweep to the Brewers, the Giants returned home. Angel Pagan came through with a game-ending double in the ninth inning to earn a 3-2 victory for San Francisco.

The Giants have dominated the Padres of late. In their last 33 matchups, the Giants are 24-9. At home, they have gone 13-4 while posting a 2.35 ERA.

Tim Lincecum will take the mound for the Giants. Lincecum has a 5.63 ERA in three starts. Despite allowing opposing hitters to hit just .217 against him, he has struggled with control as he has walked 12 in 16 innings.

In his last three starts against the Padres, Linecum is 0-1 with a 7.02 ERA.

Clayton Richard will oppose Lincecum on the mound. In his last two starts, he has posted a 1.64 ERA.
