Tonight's lineup: DH Thome batting cleanup

Jim Thome is 2 for 20 with 11 strikeouts this season, but perhaps regular at-bats over the next five days will help him reestablish his timing at the plate.

Thome is the Phillies designated hitter Friday night as the Phillies open a nine-game interleague road trip at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

In a bit of a surprising move, Thome will bat cleanup. Carlos Ruiz, 2 for 16 since June 2, slides down to sixth, behind Shane Victorino.

Ty Wigginton gets another start at third base for the nicked up Placido Polanco (wrist). Wigginton committed errors on back-to-back plays Thursday in the fourth inning of the Dodgers 8-3 win.

Replacing the injured Freddy Galvis at second base for a second straight game is Mike Fontenot, who went 3 for 4 Thursday to raise his batting average to .414.

Here is Fridays lineup against wild Orioles righthander Jake Arrieta:

1) Jimmy Rollins, SS
-NOTE: 10 for 25 with four multi-hit games in last six

2) Juan Pierre, LF

3) Hunter Pence, RF

4) Jim Thome, DH
-NOTE: 1 for 3, three walks vs. Arrieta

5) Shane Victorino, CF
-NOTE: Batting .226 lefthanded this season

6) Carlos Ruiz, C

7) Ty Wigginton, 3B

8) John Mayberry, 1B

9) Mike Fontenot, 2B
