Freddy Galvis hadn't logged a regular-season inning in the outfield before starting in left field Thursday against the Cardinals. Saturday night, he'll be in left for the third straight game (see game notes).

Galvis, who's also played second base, third base and shortstop this season, has committed just one error in 496.2 innings of play in the big leagues. Most of that came last year at second base, where he filled in for Chase Utley to begin the season.

Friday in the fourth inning, Galvis made a spectacular grab on a Matt Holliday line drive in the fourth inning. He's shown he's plenty capable of handling the position, and Charlie Manuel clearly agrees.

The utility man has been producing at the plate as well — he's 7 for 17 with a double, a homer and three RBIs in his last six contests.

Ryan Howard, who sat Friday, will be out of the lineup again Saturday as he continues to nurse a sore groin. John Mayberry will get the start at first.

Here are the starting nine for both clubs:

1) Jimmy Rollins, SS
