Union forward Jack McInerney on Thursday was voted the MLS Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters, following his four goals in four games during the month of April.
The 20-year-old has six goals in eight games this season for the Union, including two game winners, the second of which came in a nail-biting 3-2 victory over DC United on April 21. After this two-goal performance, McInerney was voted Week Eight MLS Player of the week. The Player of the Month honor is the first of his career.
McInerney’s goals against Columbus on April 6 and Toronto on April 13 secured 1-1 draws in each of those games.
McInerney and the Union face a struggling Seattle squad on Saturday. The Sounders sit in last place in the Western Conference with only one win this season.
