The Soul surrendered a late fourth-quarter lead and fell just short of a comeback in a 53-48 loss to the Pittsburgh Power on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center.

Soul quarterback Dan Raudabaugh connected on 23-of-41 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns while J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Game Tiger Jones made eight receptions for 124 yards and a score.

“I wanted to win this game,” Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said.“I’m kind of disappointed. We executed well the whole game, and then we fell apart at the end.

"I want to improve on everything. It’s a lot of simple things that we need to work on. Things don’t always go your way in these games, but it doesn’t matter, sometimes we need to win, and that’s all.”

The Soul opened the game with 14 unanswered points after Raudabaugh tossed TD passes to Ryan McDaniel and Larry Brackins. Before closing out the opening frame, Derrick Ross punched in a nine-yard score to put the Soul up 21-7.

Pittsburgh took over in the second quarter, outscoring the Soul 20-14. However, touchdowns by Jones and Ross helped the Soul take a 35-27 lead into the half.

Both teams scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to set up a frantic finish.

The Power scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth to take the lead on a three-yard run by Mike Washington. The Soul made a big defensive stop on Pittsburgh and got the ball back with 31 seconds remaining, but the Power sealed a victory after intercepting Raudabaugh in the end zone.

The Soul will host the Orlando Predators next Saturday, May 18, at the Wells Fargo Center. Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be aired on CBS Sports Network.
