The Soul exploded for 51 points in the second half en route to an 84-48 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday night in Des Moines. The win snapped a three-game losing streak.
Dan Raudabaugh threw for six touchdowns without a pick, completing 25 of 32 passes for 247 yards. Two of those TDs went to Tiger Jones (eight catches, 99 yards) and Adam Smith. One each went to Markee White (eight, 77) and Emery Sammons (six, 51).
The Soul (7-8) dropped each of their last two games by a single point and hadn't won on the road since Week 5 in Orlando.
“This is playoff football mode for us,” Soul coach Clint Dolezel said. “This was a big for us and will give us confidence as we continue to make our push to make the playoffs. There are still things to work on, but we will take the positives from this one and build off it.”
Derrick Ross ran for 26 yards for three touchdowns. James Romain had a big a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown and a fumble return for a touchdown. Teddy Jennings racked up 3½ sacks and four tackles.
J.J. Raterink completed 15 of 23 passes for 267 yards, four touchdowns and no picks for Iowa (6-9). Julian Reynolds had six catches for 136 yards and two scores.
Next week, the Soul host the Orlando Predators (8-6) in an important battle for a playoff spot at 8 p.m.
