AI: It Was Like Practice

Video Highlights

A.I. on playing his old team, "It felt like playing against those guys at
practice, it was just another game for me.  I think we are a better team
and we just didn't get it done.  They came to play, jumped out to an 18
point lead.  We fought so hard to get back into the game, I just felt
like we didn't have enough to finish it off."

Well since we all know Iverson never liked to show up to practice, it looks like he didn't know what to expect out of his former squad.  Mo Cheeks and the Sixers won the first battle with their former franchise player.  Kyle Korver led the Sixers with 25 points but it was former Nuggets Andre Miller and Joe Smith who sparked things early.

There was a bit of drama before the game, but once the ball was tossed it was a rather normal game.  A.I. put up his typical 30 points, but with poor shooting early, his scoring was in a losing effort.  Sounds familiar doesn't it?

Things couldn't have ended any better for a Sixers fan, unless of course you're hoping for Oden.  Allen Iverson got so frustrated by losing to his old squad that he got called for 2 late technicals and earned himself an early exit.  A.I. gets ejected and the Sixers win.  Mo was smiling from ear to ear.

Personally, it wasn't as weird as I had anticipated seeing Allen play against the Sixers.  All of the drama has worn me down.  Perhaps his return to Philly next season will stir more emotions.
