For those of you who don't know, Union head coach Peter Nowak had a fairly distinguished playing career. He debuted professionally at age 15. He wore the captain's armband for the Polish national team for three years. He won a Best Playmaker award in the German Bundesliga back in the 1995-96 season. Finally, he came to the States and finished his playing career with the Chicago Fire, where he won an MLS Cup.
Well, in the event there were any questions as to whether the coach has still got it check out this recently shot slow motion video of Nowak bending a ball around the wall and into the upper ninety off of a free kick. Ridiculous technique.
Here's hoping that Sebastien Le Toux, Kyle Nakazawa, Justin Mapp, and any other Union players who may strike a free kick this season learn a little something from this left-footed rocket.
After seeing this it's not hard to understand why he wore the #10 shirt.
The best part of the video is the way he walks away after hitting it and seeing the ball ripple the net. It's as if he's insulted by the fact the keeper even bothered diving for it.
