Blanton Looks to Shutdown Dangerous Cards

As the poker game between Ruben Amaro Jr. and Blue Jays decision maker J.P. Ricciardi comes down to the turn, the Phillies will close out their series with the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park -- the scene of yesterday's sad events in the parking lot. Ball park, parking lot, and bar operators can go to extreme measures to prevent these kind of incidents but the bottom line in my opinion is that you can't fix stupid.

As for the baseball, Joe Blanton has been pitching great and will face Todd Wellemeyer for the Cards. Wellemeyer hasn't faired as well lately and has had dificulty putting in quality starts. Hopefully the Phils can get to him early as they did yesterday against Kyle Lohse.

While the Phils have been red hot lately a series win against the recently bolstered St. Louis squad would certainly build some swagger.
