The first trade in the Ed Stefanski era has sent Kyle Korver to Utah in exchange for guard Gordan Giricek (expiring contract) and a protected first-round pick. A decent player and a community guy, Korver will be missed in Philly, but Stefanski's charge is to rebuild the Sixers, and adding first-rounders is the best place to start that process.

The pick can start in 2009 and the Sixers have seven years in which to
make it. There are different protections for each year, according to
Stefanski. Teams protect picks in case they are in the situation to receive a high choice, thus not losing it.
