Flyers Get Wild on the Road

Share

Although there have been some struggles at home recently, the Flyers are keeping up with the Rangers and the surging Devils by winning away, with four straight wins on the road. Last night in Minnesota, the Jeff Carter line did the scoring, and backup goalie Antero Niittymaki had another solid night in net, with the Flyers taking a 3-1 win. Carter scored a goal and added an assist, as did Mr. Ménage, Scottie Upshall. Niitty stopped 28 of 29 shots.

Depth and goaltending are critical in making long playoff runs, and they're two aspects that recent Flyers teams have lacked. Some consistency in net is still needed, but it's no longer the weakness it once was, and the impact of getting goals from every line is immeasurable and hard to game-plan against.

Extras:
With Riley Cote taking a 2-game vacation, the Flyers filled his spot with? Steve Downie. Gotta love it... The Atlantic Division is beastly this year. Three teams are tied for first with 32 points, and no team is below .500... The Flyers took 9 penalties (3 for slashing) to the Wild's 3, and the only goal they let up was on the Power Play.

Highlights after the jump.
