Phillies take two of three from the Braves in two phenomenal endings. Chase Utley was the hero on Saturday and Brett Myers threw a 4 hit gem Sunday night with the Fightin's coming back in the bottom of the 10th to win another thriller.
Why do I love Jimmy Rollins? There isn't one single reason, but he had a phenomenal bunt single in the bottom of the 10th. He is to the Phillies what Andre Iguadola is to the Sixers. You just love watching the guy play. I also think it is easy to love a guy who plays phenomenal defense and has tremendous speed. Everyone loves speed; it gives a player that hustle appeal.
Fans booed the absence of Chase Utley early in Sunday's game, but when Placido Polanco drove in the game winner to end it CBP erupted in cheers.
Sixers weekend wrap after the Jump.
After the Sixers won a convincing game in Indy on Friday night, they moved on to New Jersey Sunday night and must have lost their game somewhere near exit 114.
The Sixers looked horrible Sunday night, especially Chris Webber. I haven't gone as far as some of the Philly faithful as to boo the guy, but he definitely looks old and rusty as a Sixer.
Jason Kidd had a triple double and the Nets seemed to take command of the 8th seed. It is likely the Sixers will be the 7th seed going up against the Pistons of Detroit.
After its signature win over Ohio State on Saturday night, Penn State finds itself ranked for the first time since 2011.
The Nittany Lions (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) are ranked No. 24 in the latest AP poll. The Lions stunned the Buckeyes, 24-21, on Saturday in a White Out at Beaver Stadium (see game story).
With the loss, Ohio State drops from No. 2 in the country to No. 6 (see full poll).
While head coach James Franklin sidestepped the signature win question after the game (see story), there is no question the Ohio State win is one that has been lacking in the Franklin era at State College. Even junior cornerback Grant Haley, who scored the go-ahead, 60-yard touchdown off a blocked field goal in the fourth quarter, believes it was much-needed too.
“It’s just a game that put Penn State back on the map," Haley said. "We needed that signature win, and we did it tonight."
Penn State heads to Purdue next Saturday for a noon kickoff against the Boilermakers.
After a slog of a start for the Eagles, Josh Huff gave the Philadelphia faithful something to cheer about when he took a kick return 98 yards to the house.
And he capped it off with a flip into the end zone.
Huff joins fellow Eagle Wendell Smallwood as the only players in the NFL this season to return a kickofff for a touchdown.
It put the Eagles sup 8-3 after a successfull two-point conversion following a Vikings penalty.
