Nightmare on Citizens Bank Way, Phils Lose An Ugly Game Three at CBP

That one was rather frustrating. Cole Hamels looked dominant early but unraveled quickly after being squeezed on a would-be strike three to Mark Teixiera in the top of the fourth. A-Rod got the Yankees on the board with a questionable home run that hit off a camera hanging over the right field wall that some brilliant exec at FOX thought would be a great spot for it. Hamels came back out in the fifth but got hit hard, starting off with an Andy Pettitte RBI. That hurt.

Hamels left with the Phillies down 5-3 and the Phillies bullpen certainly didn't do their part to keep things close. The next three pitchers -- Happ, Durbin, and Myers -- all allowed runs.

Jayson Werth brought his bat to the Bank this evening but the rest of the team struggled to get much going.

It was just a really weak showing from the big guns not named Jayson Werth. Victorino, Utley, Howard, and Ibanez were a combined 1 for 15 on the evening. That, my friends, is how you lose World Series games.

If there's one decision to second guess Charlie on in this game it was going with Eric Bruntlett to pinch hit with one man on in the sixth. Not that it ended up mattering all that much. Rather than second guess Charlie there you could just shake your head at the fact that Bruntlett is on this team -- a tell tale sign of the bench's lack of legit depth.

This one took some steam out of our sails but there's plenty of baseball to be played. Gotta show up tomorrow and make a short-rested CC have flash backs of his grand slam to Shane last October.

Frustrating loss. Big day tomorrow though. This is far from over.
