"We have no thoughts of trading Cole Hamels," Amaro said at baseball's
general managers meetings yesterday. "I don't know where those rumors
are coming from, but that's exactly what they are. Cole Hamels is our
pitcher and we're keeping him, and I'm glad to have him."
Phillies fans will be glad to have him too -- if he can get his act together and perhaps spend a little less time starring as a pitch man for any product imaginable and instead focus on developing a legit third pitch.
Yesterday's poll results on whether you'd give up Hamels for Halladay may be a bit surprising to some. I'd be curious to see what the results of a similar poll after the 2008 post season would have looked like.
