But the Phillies -- guys some depth in the bullpen this week and signing Chad -- a guy who was on the World Series team in 2008. The word is depth that Ruben Amaro junior has used to describe deciding. Good moving your mind Jim and then why did -- make a move like that I think it's a pretty. Good move I like it if you look at last year the bullpen other than Jonathan Papelbon. Was a big weakness. It's always very valuable to have experienced guys in no other way around back in that bullpen. And Chad Durbin Durbin certainly has it I think he can be good mentor to some of these young guys that they have. He can he can help with -- one batter against a right hander he can also give you multi innings if you need him so for a million bucks I think it's a solid signing. Are right so you've mentioned the young guys and you know we -- a lot of them last year Ricky and expect to see some of them this year. Is deciding like Chad Durbin is a blocking some of these young guys from getting a chance and it has been with. I think it will a little bit but you know you got to that several current team you are in the first place. Are we trying to move on I would but are we try to make our bullpen better because I think Durbin does that. Think he makes your bullpen better do you really know you have these young guys that are coming up the freight is we saw last year -- then we saw last year and even -- -- These are guys that still need to prove themselves up here in the big leagues. So I think the Phillies are -- again using certain guys as insurance points I think Chad Durbin is a great piece of insurance for that. Is a guy that double take the ball he's durable. He he enjoys going out on the mound you know. He can't teach the other guys he can't teach these young guys it's just going to be one at a time now it's not gonna be for young guys -- -- row. Which is probably a good thing -- so assuming that the bills keep. Seven guys in the bullpen we know four of them probably -- Papelbon gender its gonna make this team that starter will most likely end Mike Adams obviously will be there as well. At least three spots -- -- you get bracket first fill those three spots with the remaining young arms that you have on the state students Almonte. And I'll go with. Do we put horse than them now. -- reports reports that there you pitched very well for this team last year but I you are you need a second left hander Greg so I think Jeremy horses. Certainly opens in my life she'd be that second left hander I think fully Beaumont I think you got to take a look at his time has come big powerful right hander. I'd like to see him in the bullpen an instance or the freighters. Kind of a toss up there so that. That's the last spot those two guys you both seemed longer distances healthy I think he's got the inside inside track with Charlie and handle that's that's my guess another network that we got them aren't haven't thrown a pitch yet spring training. We -- to -- the bullpen figured out myself and try.

    Sun, 19 May 2013

Phillies get to walk off way to cap off a winning homestand when the series against the reds died when you look at. How well this team played this week you know there were some ups and downs. He has been a big win and Charlie mine it's an absolutely huge went and not just for Charlie and and his mind that the team and its actual record because. And look they would they went through that scoring drought. From Saturn better from Friday night through Sunday and then all of a sudden sort of in a way that I don't think anybody expected. They all seem sort of surprised by it. Where they break out of that scoring slump and then not only break out of it but also win the game with with two harm could really they had two chances to have a walk off win. But Cliff Lee got stuck on first base help but it was a it was a good it was a good weekend from another strong outing for John some bad news that is when Ryan Howard he's got. Bad left knee and Charlie and doesn't expect him to play tomorrow also Carlos I haven't MRI. On Monday to determine what's up. With his hamstring how big are these injuries absolutely Brigham and when you look at a team that has struck despite the fact that they won the game on Sunday. They're team that struggled to score and those are two of your better bats. In that lineup and both Howard and grocery said that they were database so you don't know when you're gonna get these guys back it didn't sound like they were in any danger at least not a Howard's. Side of of being on the DL right now but right now nobody knows I but the good news is the next team up. Is those struggling shall we say the floundering fish the Miami Marlins the Phillies get to play them for three games even the bring. Back power forward in the five man rotation how do you like that are shaping up the least experience I think for the Phillies you gotta be pretty excited after coming off of a series where you were you squeak out this last one here after having his scoring John you see the Marlins had the the Marlins in the Mets have been. Sort of panacea for everything that ails the Phillies this season so for them. Then it's looking pretty good and certainly they have forgot what happened last on the face to face when they dropped the last two of four games at right here at Citizens Bank Park for John is Marshall Harris.
