What's the biggest storyline in your mind to watch as we watched -- spring training. Perfect absolutely has to be health. You have Roy Halladay you have Cole Hamels. You have Chase Utley and Ryan Howard all of dealt with little nicks and and some big Nixon. You need all these guys to be clicking if you gonna have a chance a lot of things have to go right this Phillies team that number one none of it goes right if they don't have good health. I think we saw last year in the second half when they finally get their pieces back together that would put a pretty good ball comes up that's the number one thing. I'm looking at it mark how healthy is Chase Utley out of Ryan Howard -- Out of the big guys -- -- -- -- -- -- in the same way I say the superstars have step up I mean this is a team that was bill. And chase and Ryan and Jimmy these are the guys that we've got to shine this year. This is no longer the Phillies that were walking into the playoffs this is now a team that's got to regroup. They have to pitch well and and on top of that their offense is. Gotta start clicking again we have not seen a potent offense -- a long long time from this team. And it all -- all the weight is on Ryan Howard always on Chase Utley. Period yeah I think what you just -- goes hand in hand those guys play well the offense will be clothing that's what he did that's what everybody -- it -- -- but when you look back even the general manager -- that it. There's no superstars up the blitz but -- and I grew -- funny guys that could do it I would agree with that to heart. What about the stories that may be. We're not thinking about what about some of the things that are flying under the radar Ricky that we should be looking at it should be thinking about coming industry try I think to I mean -- we talk about how how much the bullpen has gotten stronger but these two guys out there that have really got to step back up and number one is Antonio -- tomorrow. There's a guy that this a do or die situation for him. Anyway what I look at all of the photo I saw guys come up that was lights out you didn't have any problem pitching lately -- It seems like he's he's developed almost like a little bit of fear that eighth inning role. He's gotta step back up. And Mike Adams to need some help from laughing. The other thing is Chad Durbin just a solid guy out in the bullpen. A guy that could pretty much fill any role of somebody's tired and I think he's going to be a very important piece to good signings in the bullpen when you under the radar -- under the radar in spring training I think they need to stress. Defense and I think you need to play good defense even though it's exhibition season. They need to go out there throw some leather around your question marks in both corner outfield spots defensively -- question mark at third base this is still pitching based team. Defense is really crucial you wanna see them. Play good defense in spring training so maybe have a hunch that -- play good defense during the season and then once -- -- the season. Under the radar I think a quick start is very important is a very good so early last year yeah and we start again. Which structure would be nice well lot of questions surrounding this team but now's the time. That answers you start happening so that's what we're going to be looking for -- for -- -- -- -- for Jim Salisbury I'm Greg Murphy.

  2. John Gonzalez and Marshall Harris recap the Phillies' win

    Sun, 19 May 2013

Phillies get to walk off way to cap off a winning homestand when the series against the reds died when you look at. How well this team played this week you know there were some ups and downs. He has been a big win and Charlie mine it's an absolutely huge went and not just for Charlie and and his mind that the team and its actual record because. And look they would they went through that scoring drought. From Saturn better from Friday night through Sunday and then all of a sudden sort of in a way that I don't think anybody expected. They all seem sort of surprised by it. Where they break out of that scoring slump and then not only break out of it but also win the game with with two harm could really they had two chances to have a walk off win. But Cliff Lee got stuck on first base help but it was a it was a good it was a good weekend from another strong outing for John some bad news that is when Ryan Howard he's got. Bad left knee and Charlie and doesn't expect him to play tomorrow also Carlos I haven't MRI. On Monday to determine what's up. With his hamstring how big are these injuries absolutely Brigham and when you look at a team that has struck despite the fact that they won the game on Sunday. They're team that struggled to score and those are two of your better bats. In that lineup and both Howard and grocery said that they were database so you don't know when you're gonna get these guys back it didn't sound like they were in any danger at least not a Howard's. Side of of being on the DL right now but right now nobody knows I but the good news is the next team up. Is those struggling shall we say the floundering fish the Miami Marlins the Phillies get to play them for three games even the bring. Back power forward in the five man rotation how do you like that are shaping up the least experience I think for the Phillies you gotta be pretty excited after coming off of a series where you were you squeak out this last one here after having his scoring John you see the Marlins had the the Marlins in the Mets have been. Sort of panacea for everything that ails the Phillies this season so for them. Then it's looking pretty good and certainly they have forgot what happened last on the face to face when they dropped the last two of four games at right here at Citizens Bank Park for John is Marshall Harris.
