Dennis Smith Jr. is not afraid to talk smack to Markelle Fultz's face

What's that one famous line from The Big Lebowski? "You're not wrong, Walter. You're just ..."

That's kind of how I feel after watching this clip of Dennis Smith Jr. talk some smack to our beloved Markelle Fultz.

The two were playing video games last week as part of some promotion and got into some (mostly) friendly banter.

Smith repeatedly hammers the Sixers about their losing ways.

"What's fun about losing games? Seriously, tell me what's fun about losing," Smith Jr. says. "What is fun about losing. Y'all ain't been doing nothing but losing. Y'all didn't even win a summer league game."

As Fultz correctly points out, "the season hasn't even started yet."

Sixers Notes: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot gives No. 20 to Markelle Fultz

Sixers Notes: Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot gives No. 20 to Markelle Fultz

There are a lot of pressing questions heading into Sixers training camp.

How many games will Joel Embiid play?

How will Ben Simmons do running the point?

What jersey number will Markelle Fultz wear???

Fultz has donned No. 20 since his freshman year of high school. Last season, that number belonged to Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who also wore it internationally prior to the NBA.

When the Sixers revealed their new uniforms for the 2017-18 season, the unveiling featured Fultz … in No. 20.

“Tim was a good enough person to give it up to me,” Fultz said in a Sixers.com video. “He’s become very close to me. I appreciate him giving me No. 20. I think he knows that. I’m going to represent it well. I think he had a lot of meaning behind it, too, so I’ve got to represent it the right way.”

Earlier this summer, Luwawu-Cabarrot joked on Instagram that the cost of his number would be hefty, to the tune of a luxury sports car. He and Fultz formed visible chemistry on the court and on the bench during summer league, so the second-year guard may have dropped the asking price.

There's no word yet on what number Luwawu-Cabarrot will wear this season for the Sixers. He posted a photo with a No. 3 jersey for the French national team on Tuesday, shortly after Fultz’s number was announced.

The Sixers are holding an online contest to win one of five Fultz jerseys. The rookie hopes fans appreciate his attachment to the number.

"It’s kind of crazy, really, seeing your number that you want and have your name on the back of it," Fultz said. "It just shows that you worked hard for something, you got that spot, and you’ve just got to protect your brand."

TLC injury update
Luwawu-Cabarrot reportedly suffered patellar tendinitis, left his training with the national team and will not participate in EuroBasket this summer. The Sixers are aware of his injury, according to a source. Sportando first reported Luwawu-Cabarrot left the training camp.

Sixers unveil new Nike uniforms for 2017-18 season

Sixers unveil new Nike uniforms for 2017-18 season

The Sixers will have a new look this coming season, on the court and on their uniforms.

On Tuesday, the team revealed two if its four jerseys, the “Association Edition” for home games and “Icon Edition” for road games. First overall pick Markelle Fultz showed off the Nike jerseys (yes, he is wearing No. 20) in the three-part series “Made for the Moment,” presented by StubHub.

“For this to be my first NBA jersey and the first time putting it on, I’m lucky and fortunate enough to wear this across my chest and play for this team,” Fultz said.

New jersey features for the 2017-18 season include “Brotherly Love” embroidered on the lower left hem in gold and a red drop-shadow behind both the players’ numbers and the letters “PHILA.” The Sixers’ jerseys will have the StubHub patch on them to represent their partnership.

In addition to the “Association” and “Icon” jerseys, every team will have a uniform inspired by the community and another based on the NBA players’ mindsets. These editions will be revealed over the upcoming months.

“We are confident that the next two jerseys we unveil will additionally capture the spirit of this historic city, the imagination of new Philadelphia, and the passion of our loyal fans,” Sixers chief sales & marketing officer Chris Heck said. “Before the 2017-18 season has even begun, our 'Welcome to the Moment’ campaign has generated national recognition and acclaim, and we look forward to continuing the momentum as the season progresses.”

These revamped designs are part of Nike’s first year as the official on-court apparel provider of the NBA. Nike made numerous detailed changes to the uniforms, ranging from 30 percent faster moisture-wicking yarn, to hemline modifications for full range of motion, to a better fit in the back shoulder area. The Sixers are holding an online contest to win one of five official Fultz jerseys. The new jerseys will be available for sale at SixersShop.com as well as in the team store beginning Sept. 29.
