Nate Allen: ‘It's disgusting to even be associated with this'

Nate Allen isn't just upset.

He's disgusted.

Even though he was ultimately released by the police Monday without being charged, that's not enough.

"It's disgusting to even be associated with something like this," Allen said to the News-Press of Fort Myers, Florida, in a story published Tuesday morning. "Just the fact that there's an accusation with my name, about doing something that repulsive."

A source close to the situation told CSN's Derrick Gunn that Allen was stopped by a Fort Myers police officer shortly after eating at a Red Lobster. A 16-year-old girl had accused Allen of indecent exposure, and he was brought in for questioning. The Eagles' safety was detained and later released without being charged because of inconclusive evidence.

Allen told the newspaper that one or two teen-aged girls accused him of performing a lewd act to himself at a red light of an intersection, but Allen said he did no such thing.

Allen also told the newspaper that he spent almost five hours in a holding cell on Monday night without knowing why he was pulled over and detained.

"The whole time I was sitting there in this holding cell, I'm thinking, 'Football isn't even worth all this,'" Allen said. "I don't even like considering myself a celebrity. I hate how people idolize us. Because this is the type of stuff that comes with being idolized.

"This is the stuff that comes from it."

Fort Myers police on Tuesday morning issued a statement saying an investigation remains active but no charges were made against Allen. The department is working with the 20th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's office for case review, the statement said.

"Good," Allen said to the newspaper of the ongoing investigation. "I hope so. Please. I said, 'Can you look at some cameras, can you find something that shows that I didn't do this?'

"It's scary to think that this could happen just off a single phone call. If these girls had adults with them, I wish I could talk to them. Look what you are creating. What are you trying to do?

"But I forgive them. That's what I want these women to hear more than anything."
