A sizable donation has paved the way for Penn State to finally have an NCAA hockey program. This is great news for PA hockey fans, and the timing is good with the Frozen Four coming to Pittsburgh in 2013 and Philly in 2014. Not that we expect PSU to make it that far so soon (they aren't expected to start play until 2012-2013), but it should mean even greater interest in the sport in PA, which already has tremendous backing in two major NHL markets and several AHL regions.
