Marvin Harrison commits cardinal sin, insults Philly fans

There are pretty much only three rules that Philadelphia athletes need to follow.

1. Play really hard. Like, really hard.

2. Tell us how great we as Philly fans are, repeatedly.

3. Don't insult us, ever.

That's it. Do that and Philly fans will love you.

Break any of those rules and you're pretty much dead to us.

Philadelphia product Marvin Harrison broke No. 3 above over the weekend and now he's bannished from the island forever.

Harrison, perhaps remembered most in Philadelphia for his connection to a murder, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend. That's where his insulting of us took place.

Here's what Marvin had to say, courtesy of CBS Philadelphia:

“I’m from Philadelphia, the home of the Eagles,” Harrison said. “If you get the coin toss wrong in Philadelphia, they want to trade you the first thing on Monday morning, so I wasn’t used to that in Indianapolis.”

On Monday’s 94WIP Morning Show, Angelo Cataldi and many Eagles fans reacted to Harrison’s comment.

“I was so angry,” a caller named Shirley said. “Why ya’ll taking shots at the fans? Why ya’ll taking shots at us? Ya’ll probably wish ya’ll played here!”

“Screw you Marvin Harrison!” Cataldi said.

Shirley and Angelo capture the collective feeling of Philly fans perfectly.

Also, too many Philly fans are idiots.

I'd like to end this post by quoting the great rapper Ja Rule.
