Ryan Phillippe: Great Eagles Fan Parent or Awful Eagles Fan Parent?

Share

There aren't a ton of Hollywood celebrities that also happen to be well-known fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. Or Philadelphia sports in general.

Will Smith, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Phillippe and that one actress from the late-90s/early-aughts seem to be about it.

Being an Eagles fan is a burden that many of us must carry throughout this slog of a journey we call life. But what about our kids? Must we pass this burden along to them?

A true Eagles fan would probably argue "absolutely" while a more benevolent human may argue against it.

Ryan Phillippe, a well-documented Birds fan from who is a native of Delaware, gave his kid an out.

“I tried to give him a way out, he was in born in Los Angeles," Philllippe told USA Today. "I said ‘son you don’t have to bear the burden of failure that comes along with being an Eagles fan."

“But he said ‘no Dad I’m an Eagles fan’ and he loves them.”

Smart (but cursed) kid.

He's promoting a new project he's working on, "Shooter," with fellow sports fan Mark Wahlberg.

Phillippe and now his son are firmly on the #WentzWagon.

“He’s an exciting young player to watch,” he said. “He’s a quarterback who the Eagles haven’t had somebody of his quality for quite a while.”

Not much of his quality around him, either, as I'm sure Phillippe would tell you. You can catch a commercial for his new show below.
