NEW YORK -- Aaron Brown scored a career-high 26 points and Saint Joseph's survived a late turnover to defeat Columbia 80-78.

Lamarr Kimble made two free throws with 14 seconds left to give the Hawks an 80-76 lead but Columbia's Maodo Lo quickly drove the ball downcourt for a layup with eight seconds to go. Then the Lions forced a turnover with five seconds remaining but Lo couldn't get his last-second shot to drop.

Columbia (4-5) led 30-28 at the half but the Hawks (5-2) used a 9-0 surge in the middle of the second half to lead by eight. It was still eight after a James Demery dunk for the Hawks with 2:36 to go but Grant Mullins hit a 3-pointer and, when Alex Rosenberg made a layup at 25 seconds, it was a 78-76 game.

Lo and Rosenberg both scored 21 points. It was a career-high for Rosenberg.
