Adrian Gonzalez in Right, Big Papi at First for BoSox

After managing only two hits against the Phillies on Tuesday night, the Red Sox will get some added pop to their lineup this evening. Terry Francona has opted to give slugger Adrian Gonzalez the very rare start in right field in order to make room for David Ortiz at first base. Tito talked to Boston radio this morning about the decision, via NESN:

"I don't want to do it very often. It may not even be in our best
interest to win the game tonight...We're taking a gamble on the
defensive side."

On what made it something he was OK with doing: "This won't be a
trainwreck or we wouldn't have done it. Talking to Gonzo, he's got me
convinced that he's going to be OK, or I would not have done this."

And then there was this gem from Dustin Pedroia yesterday when asked about the posibility of Gonzalez in right and Papi at first, via HBT: "It will be good for us offensively, but damn, I’m going to have to play second, first and right."

It should be a good night for the Phillies to pepper some balls down the right side of the field.
