Phillies shortstop prospect J.P. Crawford has picked it up of late at the plate, but his extremely slow start to the season resulted in an 80-spot drop in Baseball America's prospect rankings.

Crawford, who was ranked 12th by Baseball America entering the season, checked in at No. 92 on BA's Midseason Top 100, released Friday.

Crawford is hitting .215/.328/.326 on the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with 46 walks and 52 strikeouts. Over his last 18 games, though, he's hit .290/.380/.551 with 10 extra-base hits, 10 walks and 12 K's.

(Crawford also dropped from fourth to 20th in Baseball Prospectus' midseason rankings, which were released Thursday.)

Seven Phillies prospects made Baseball America's Midseason Top 100:

• 46: OF Mickey Moniak (previous ranking: 13)
.268/.318/.383, 17 doubles, 4 triples, 3 HR, 29 RBIs in 323 PA

• 47: RHP Sixto Sanchez (previous: 61)
3.04 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 50 K, 5 BB in 50⅓ innings

• 52: 2B Scott Kingery (previous: not ranked)
.313/.370/.610, 20 doubles, 5 triples, 22 HR, 52 RBIs, 71 R, 22 SB

• 69: 1B Rhys Hoskins (previous: 88)
.292/.387/.581, 20 HR, 66 RBIs, 46 BB, 53 K

• 81: C Jorge Alfaro (previous: 32)
.256/.309/.380, 6 HR, 38 RBIs, 15 BB, 86 K, thrown out 13 of 41 base stealers (32 percent)

• 92: SS J.P. Crawford (previous: 12)
2017 stats above

• 98: OF Adam Haseley (previous: not ranked)
18 for 38 in 10 pro games — hitting .474 BA with a 1.170 OPS, 4 extra-base hits, 7 BB, 8 K

In contrast, the major-league Phillies had zero players on ESPN's MLB Top 100.

Baseball America's rankings obviously are not a be-all, end-all, but they're a good indication of which prospects are rising and falling, who is developing and who is slowing down. As CSN producer Brian Brennan points out, Aaron Judge was ranked 42nd a year ago at this time by the same outlet. A year later, he's legitimately in contention to win the AL Triple Crown.
