Bensalem special needs senior goes off for 14 pts

Bensalem High senior Kevin Grow is more than just your typical high school athlete.

Grow, a member of the Fighting Owls' basketball program as the team manager for four years, has Down syndrome.

And during Saturday's "Senior Day" game against Neshaminy, Grow had the game of his life.

Entering the game with two minutes remaining, Grow dropped 14 points, including four three-pointers on five attempts in Bensalem's 64-40 win.

“I knew he could shoot, but I could stick anyone out there and I’m not sure who could make four out of five to be honest with you,” coach John Mullin said in an interview with CSN. “I thought I was in a Disney movie.”

“It just shows other parents not to sell our kids short. They can do whatever they want to do,” his mother, Dorothy Grow, added.

“It was just a wonderful feeling. He deserves it.”
