Brandon McManus discusses life as a Super Bowl champ

Brandon McManus has been a very busy man lately.

After all, he's now a Super Bowl-winning kicker.

His latest stop was his alma mater on North Broad Street.

The 24-year-old was at Temple's Edberg-Olson Hall this week to visit with friends and meet with Owls head coach Matt Rhule, whom he gave a signed jersey to during the trip.

"It's all pretty surreal," McManus, a Hatfield, Pennsylvania native and North Penn High School grad, told Comcast SportsNet's John Clark. "It was a dream of mine to play in the NFL, let alone kick in and win the Super Bowl."

McManus played for the Owls from 2009-12 and went 158 for 163 on kicks for 338 points, the most points by any player in Temple history. Despite his stellar college career, McManus went undrafted and was cut by both the Indianapolis Colts and New York Giants before catching on with the Denver Broncos before the 2014 season.

"I don't know how many people have been cut three times in two years," McManus said. "So it's pretty exciting and makes it a lot sweeter the journey that I've gone through."

This season with the Broncos, McManus went 30 for 35 in the regular season. But he was money in the postseason when he went 10 for 10, including 3 for 3 in the Broncos' Super Bowl 50 triumph. McManus' nine points led all scorers in the Super Bowl.

"There's probably maybe only 50 leading scorers in the Super Bowl ever that have walked the face of this earth," McManus said. "So that's pretty cool and I'm excited to tell my grandchildren and children that."
