Eagles-Cowboys week means Eagles-Cowboys stats!

So with a full day to kill before kickoff tonight, here are 10 fascinating Eagles-Cowboys stats from throughout the rivalry’s 120-game history!

Shady and Jim Brown: LeSean McCoy is tied with Jim Brown for highest yards-per-carry average ever against the Cowboys at 5.3 yards per attempt. Walter Payton is third at 5.1 and Duce Staley is next at 4.9. Two Eagles and two Hall of Famers.

Most 100-yard games: Shady is also tied for most career 100-yard games against the Cowboys with four. O.J. Anderson, Tiki Barber, Walter Payton and Ricky Watters also had four. Three of Ricky’s were with the Eagles.

Tommy McDonald was a Cowboy: Did you know all-time Eagles great Tommy McDonald was also a Cowboy? He’s also one of a small group of players who have scored a touchdown for both the Cowboys and Eagles: McDonald, Mike Ditka, Herschel Walker, Randall Cunningham, Terrell Owens, Miles Austin, DeMarco Murray and Orlando Scandrick.

D-Jack and Vick: DeSean Jackson’s 210 yards against the Cowboys in 2010 are the most in NFL history by a player on four or fewer catches. Jackson’s four catches from Michael Vick went for 60 yards (first play of the game), 37 yards, 22 yards and 91 yards in a 30-27 Eagles win.

There goes Lito! Lito Sheppard has two of the four-longest INT returns ever against the Cowboys — a 102-yarder in 2006 off Drew Bledsoe at the Linc and a 101-yarder off Vinny Testaverde in 2004 at Texas Stadium.  He’s the only player with two 100-yard INT returns against the same team.

Best vs. Eagles: Jason Witten has more catches against the Eagles than any player in history — by far. Witten has 152 catches in 29 career games against the Eagles, 51 more than any other player. Art Monk had 101. Witten’s 1,642 yards are also the most ever against the Eagles. Here are the most catches in NFL history by a player against a specific team:

185 … Larry Fitzgerald vs. Rams
175 … Larry Fitzgerald vs. Saints
175 … Jerry Rice vs. Falcons
173 … Larry Fitzgerald vs. 49ers
157 … Jason Witten vs. Giants
152 … Jason Witten vs. Eagles

Ertz closing in: Zach Ertz is closing in on the most catches ever by an opposing tight end against the Cowboys. His 57 in 12 games are second-most, five behind Jackie Smith. The Hall of Famer had 62 in 24 career games for the Cards against the Cowboys. Brian Westbrook’s 67 receptions are the most ever by an Eagle against the Cowboys. Ertz’s 57 catches have come from Carson Wentz (38), Sam Bradford (8), Nick Foles (6), Mark Sanchez (3) and Matt Barkley (2).

Wes Hopkins was a Cowboy Killer: Wes Hopkins owns the record for most career INTs vs. the Cowboys. He shares the mark of nine with Terry Kinard, who was with the Giants in the 1980s. Wes picked off Troy Aikman three times and Steve Pelluer, Gary Hogeboom and Danny White twice.

Damaris Johnson??? The longest punt return ever against the Cowboys was also by an Eagle — Damaris Johnson, of all people. He brought a Brian Moorman punt back 98 yards with 53 seconds left in the Cowboys’ 38-33 win at Cowboys Stadium in 2012.

Something the Eagles could use: When the Eagles have a 100-yard rusher, they’re 16-2 against the Cowboys. They haven’t had one since McCoy in 2014.
