Fast Eddie All For MLS in Chester

Former Mayor of Philadelphia and current Governor of PA -- I type PA so I don't have to type out the whole state's name, that's challenging for a blogger -- Ed Rendell has stated he is all for bringing an MLS soccer franchise to the beautiful waterfront city of Chester.

A year ago, Rendell was skeptical when approached about the idea
because Nevels didn't have a financial plan or a stadium site and there
was no commitment from the league that a franchise would be awarded,
said John Estey, the governor's senior adviser.

Now, the league
hopes to announce two new expansion teams and Philadelphia is "most
certainly" in the running, according to MLS vice president Dan
Courtemanche. The investor group hopes to open the stadium and start
the franchise in 2009 or 2010.

I'm all about bringing a soccer team to the Philadelphia region.  Plus, maybe we could watch David Beckham play like 12 minutes in a game or something.

That said, soccer and Chester seems about a good a fit as Charlie Manuel and the Scripts National Grammar Bee.
