Greg Foster leaves Sixers to join Bucks’ staff

Brett Brown is losing a member of his coaching staff. Greg Foster is joining the Milwaukee Bucks to become a member of Jason Kidd's coaching staff.

With Kidd, Foster will be the second assistant coach, a promotion from being a player development coach with the Sixers.

"It is a great opportunity for Greg" Sixers president and general manager Sam Hinkie said. "We hate to lose him, but we don't want to stand in the way of people when opportunities present themselves."

Foster joined Brown's staff prior to the start of last season and was given a tremendous amount of credit for the individual work he spent developing Nerlens Noel despite Noel not playing in his rookie season.

The 6-foot-11 Foster had a productive 13-year NBA playing career. He played on two Utah Jazz teams that own the Western Conference championship and won an NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2001.

Prior to his only year with the Sixers, Foster's coaching experience included three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Texas El Paso, one of which was as a student assistant coach.

Foster was the 35th overall selection in the 1990 NBA draft after playing at UTEP.
